The new California College Preparatory
Academy Charter School at 2125 Jefferson St.
moved into the buildings of the old St. Joseph’s
Elementary School in 2008 and serves a low-
income student population of almost exclusively
students of color.

Aspire California College Preparatory Academy is a grade 9 – 12 charter school at 2125 Jefferson Ave. in the facilities of the former St. Joseph’s Elementary School, with a student population of 244 (2013) of almost exclusively students of color (66% Hispanic, 29% African American, 4% Asian, and 1% Caucasian).
The Academy serves low income underserved students and operates in partnership with UC Berkeley to provide a high level college preparatory education. It was started in 2005 and has been in the current location since 2008.
