Rubin and Lerner at 1712 Channing Way
Jerry Rubin and Michael Lerner knew each other from the FSM and from working together on Black Power Day on the Cal campus in October, 1966. They also helped to organize the first human "Be-in" at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco in January, 1967
Lerner helped Rubin with his campaign for mayor of Berkeley in spring, 1967. While living together on Channing, they celebrated Shabbat together, and Lerner attended the Beth Israel synagogue on Bancroft and California.
