The District Goes Radical in the 1960s
Mike Myerson in the Early Movement
Mike Myerson, "red diaper baby", Chairman of SLATE at UC Berkeley in 1958, was a key organizer of the sit-ins against the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1960. He also led the Ad-Hoc Committee Against Discrimination, an important precursor of the Free Speech Movement (FSM) at UC Berkeley. Myerson lived with other radical leaders at 2224 Roosevelt Avenue in Berkeley with his girlfriend Deanna Burk.
